Joining the Army at the age of seventeen, Zachary has always prioritized serving others. As an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician in the Army, he gained a profound appreciation for life and a perspective that he had previously taken for granted. After leaving active duty, he set his sights on building a career dedicated to putting others first.
Zachary enrolled in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Electrical Engineering program while simultaneously volunteering as an Emergency Medical Technician and firefighter. Through these experiences, he developed a passion for healthcare and focused his efforts on bridging the gap between engineering and medicine. As a research assistant with the Biomechanics Department at the University of Nebraska, Zachary contributed to a project aimed at improving lower-limb prosthetic devices. He graduated at the top of his class and went on to attend the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, the world’s first engineering-based medical school, graduating with honors in 2022.
Now an Anesthesiology Resident in San Diego, Zachary continues to pursue research and innovation, combining his engineering expertise and medical knowledge to improve patient care.
